Gap Need: College Education

I met Philadelphia in October 2012 while living with her family, who are local Pastors and Missionaries in their Kenyan village. While my team and I were there, we traveled by motorbike “Tiki Tiki” to the all girls boarding school, where Philadelphia was working hard towards a better education. She welcomed us warmly, and we spent the night on campus, where monkeys hung from most of the trees and smiling young girls greeted us warmly as they walked to and from their dorms.

Because of Philadelphia’s positive reputation on campus, I was given the privilege to speak to over 800 girls during their Christian meeting that evening. That was an awesome night I will never forget! We were also able to share our stories with the entire assembly the next morning.

phil imageThis sweet girl has lived in her Kenyan village and also has been brave enough to live hours away from her family so as to receive the best education possible. Her family has not only served their area tirelessly for generations and for the sake of the Gospel, but also to bring physical health to their neighbors and a better overall lifestyle for all they know and love.

Philadelphia has made excellent choices with her studies and has been so bold in the way she has pursued what others may have said was impossible for her as a young woman, from a remote area of Kenya, Africa. She is a disciplined and also very sociable girl and her potential is obvious to all who meet her.

Just recently, Philadelphia was accepted into the “Education Course” at the University of Nairobi, a well recognized university in the Republic of Kenya. This course costs $650 per semester and that amount includes tuition, food, and board. It is a four year course with three semesters per year.

I know that Philadelphia will THRIVE at the University of Nairobi and I hope that you, God’s BeLoved, can step into the gap to help this young girl accomplish her dreams, and inspire so many other young girls to do the same!

If you want to “Give,” please do so at the bottom of this page!

When her dad approached me with this special need, he mentioned that Philadelphia would like to keep in touch with those who give to her education. He said that in their culture, the sacrifice you make in giving is honored by an effort on their part to build a lasting relationship with you. What a beautiful custom! If you would like to communicate with Philadelphia, to encourage her as she lives bravely in Nairobi in the coming years, please click HERE.

We act as the body of Christ when we walk as He walked, in love. Be His love today and do something for someone who matters around the world. Be a life-changer. Be who you were made to be. Live loved. Be. Loved.
